Biographical data
He completed his high school studies in Vác. He began his theological studies in Budapest at Pázmány Péter University, but due to illness he was sent to the countryside, spending two years in Eger and then three years in Vác as a seminarian of the Diocese of Székesfehérvár. He was ordained a priest on June 17, 1923. He arrived in the United States on December 16, 1930, aboard the ship Mauretania. In June 1934, he was incardinated into the Diocese of Trento. In 1964, after his retirement, he returned home for a visit; at that time, the Bishop of Székesfehérvár wished to honor him with the title of Abbot of Borbálapuszta, but the AEH prevented this. Later, in 1966, the bishop attempted once again to bestow the title, but Lényi passed away while the matter was still being processed.
