Biographical data
He completed his high school studies at the Cistercian High School in Eger and studied theology there as well. He was ordained a priest on June 21, 1909. During World War I, he served as a field chaplain with the rank of captain.
In 1921, he received a promise from the Diocese of Szepes that he would be incardinated, but this did not materialize in terms of canon law. Due to a dispute with Bishop Jan Vojtassák of Szepes, he was suspended from 1925 to 1927.
