Biographical data

He was a second-generation Hungarian. His parents were János Mátyás and Helen. He entered the order in 1945. He completed his studies at St. Joseph Seminary. He was ordained a priest in 1950. He earned a BA in philosophy and an MA in mathematics. It was noted that he was very fond of wordplay, which he readily used in both his teaching and his sermons.
