Biographical data
After completing his high school studies in Komárom, he joined the Cistercian Order, where he was given the name Péter. He left the order in 1925 for health reasons, then completed his seminary studies in Veszprém from 1925 to 1927 and in Vienna from 1927 to 1930. He was ordained a priest in Veszprém on June 23, 1929. He received his doctorate on December 17, 1932. He served briefly in the United States before returning home. In 1960, he was named an honorary canon, a title he was stripped of in 1962 for political reasons. He was arrested in 1965 and returned to active ministry in 1968.
