Biographical data
He was a second-generation Hungarian. His parents were György Pajtás, a farmer, and Júlia Román, a homemaker. He had five siblings; one of his sisters became a nun. He attended school in Fairview, OH, and Cleveland, OH. After graduating from high school, he worked as a nurse and then as a truck driver. He entered the order on August 15, 1936. He took his perpetual vows on August 16, 1940. He was ordained a priest in New York, NY, by Francis Cardinal Spellman, Archbishop of New York, on January 27, 1945. He showed a keen interest in the Eastern rites, and so in 1956 he was granted permission to celebrate Mass according to the Greek rite as well. He served in the Greek Catholic Diocese of Parma beginning in 1958 as director of vocations, pastoral examiner, and judge of the matrimonial tribunal. He was a Knight of Columbus. He died of cancer. His grave is located at the Friars Cemetery at Graymoor in Garrison, NY, where he was reinterred from his original grave in Lorain, OH.
