Biographical data
In other sources, his name is given as Jacundus Janocskó Varga. He spent a considerable amount of time in Italy during his youth, and later joined the order in Croatia. He trained as a cook. He was drafted as a novice and served at several locations during World War I (Italy, Transylvania, Carpathian Ruthenia) as a medic and later as a non-commissioned officer. After his discharge, he worked as a cook at the monastery in Gyöngyös and later in Szeged. He was a novice in Pécs and then transferred to Siklós. He originally wanted to be a missionary in China, but his application was rejected, and he was sent to Bolivia instead. He served as a monk in Bolivia starting in 1927. In 1971—after more than half a century—he presented his royal passport at the Hungarian Embassy in Bolivia to request a visit home, at which time he was issued a Hungarian tourist passport.
