His parents were Antal Krupa, the archbishop’s cellar master, and Teréz Szeredi. They had five children. He attended high school at the Cistercian school in Eger and later at the Jesuit school in Pécs. He entered the order in 1921. He took his perpetual vows on September 1, 1928. He studied theology in Gyöngyös. He was ordained a priest on July 5, 1931. He was imprisoned between 1948 and 1951; afterward, he was not permitted to perform priestly duties, so he carried out lay work in various Franciscan monasteries, keeping his priesthood a secret. In 1965, he left the country and emigrated to the United States. There, due to language difficulties, he performed manual labor at every place he worked.
